With Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s blessings, Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam recently hosted a transformative eye camp, organised under the Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini umbrella by the medical team at Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam. Conducted in collaboration with external optometrists, the eye camp extended its reach to neighbouring villages like Yelagahalli and Hegganur Doddi, offering eye check-ups, spectacles, and cataract treatments at no cost to all in need.
Reaching Out to the Villages
The camp was facilitated by the mobile van of the Aloka Vision Programme, which brought essential eye care directly to the rural communities. Residents from the surrounding villages flocked to the camp, where they received free consultations and medical attention. During the camp, 22 cataract cases were identified, and 82 pairs of spectacles were distributed free of cost, ensuring clearer vision and brighter prospects for many villagers.
The Spirit of Volunteerism
The most inspiring aspect of the camp was the active and voluntary involvement of the students from Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini. The children participated in the camp wholeheartedly, ensuring its smooth running as they assisted with registrations, guided patients through the process, and helped coordinate the eye examinations. Their participation was a shining example of how love and service can be translated into action.

For many villagers, the eye camp was more than just an opportunity for an eye check-up—it was a gateway to restored vision and renewed hope. With the distribution of spectacles, many of them would be able to see clearly for the first time in years, empowering them to go about their daily lives with greater independence.
