The Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini team continued their mission of service by organising a medical camp in the serene village of Kadu Shivanahalli, situated 20 kilometres from Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam. This initiative marked another milestone in their ongoing commitment to deliver quality healthcare to rural communities in need.
The Village and its Spirit
Nestled within the forest region, Kadu Shivanahalli is home to roughly 60 households whose residents primarily earn their livelihood through farming, daily labour and animal husbandry. The village’s remote location has historically meant limited access to healthcare resources, with residents often struggling to receive timely medical attention.
Comprehensive Medical Care
The Kshema Dayini team transformed the local community centre into a temporary medical facility for the day’s operations. The programme commenced with the distribution of nutritious breakfast prasadam to all attendees, setting a welcoming tone for the day ahead.
Following breakfast, the medical team—comprising doctors, laboratory assistants and volunteers—began their consultations. Throughout the day, they provided care to 50 villagers, many of whom were elderly residents seeking treatment for various health concerns.
Addressing Health Challenges
The medical team encountered several prevalent health issues, with fever and joint pain being particularly common amongst the elderly population. The doctors conducted thorough examinations, providing both immediate treatment and practical advice for ongoing condition management. They also identified several cases of high blood pressure and early-stage diabetes, ensuring patients received appropriate medication and guidance for long-term care. The team performed diagnostic tests where necessary, collecting samples from approximately 15 patients for further analysis.
Community Response
The villagers expressed profound appreciation for the medical team’s dedication and professionalism. They were particularly moved by the inclusive nature of the camp, which ensured all residents received attention, regardless of their circumstances, and that all services were provided free of charge.
As the day drew to a close, the team established plans for future visits, ensuring continuity of care for the community. The programme concluded with a Mangala Aarathi to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, offering prayers for the community’s continued health and wellbeing.
The Kadu Shivanahalli medical camp exemplified more than just healthcare delivery—it demonstrated the profound impact of combining professional medical expertise with genuine compassion. This successful initiative stands as a testament to the transformative power of selfless service in rural healthcare.
