‘Prema Manjari’ Celebrations: A Day of Joyful Games and Heartfelt Speeches by Gnyana Dayini Students

The New Year’s evening at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam was celebrated as Children’s Day, dedicated to the devoted students of the Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini initiative. Aptly named ‘Prema Manjari’, meaning an expression of selfless love, the event brought together students from the Vidya Maadhuryam (tuition classes), Sangeeta Maadhuryam (music classes), and Nritya Maadhuryam (dance classes) held at the ashram. The evening was filled with vibrant activities, including a fancy dress competition, fun games, heartfelt speeches, and a soulful song by the children.

The programme was a grand celebration of the pure love that these children personify, creating a joyous evening dedicated entirely to them at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam. A highlight of the event was the much-anticipated announcement of the ‘Student of the Year’ award, presented to a deserving and dedicated student.

The evening also honoured Brother Kantaraju, the driver of the Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini ambulance, for his invaluable service throughout the past year, saving countless lives.

The evening began with a recognition of Brother Kantaraju, the dedicated driver of the Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini ambulance, for his exceptional service over the past year, during which he reached out to more than 500 patients.  He has been instrumental in responding promptly to every emergency, ensuring timely transportation, and providing essential first-aid support, often serving as a critical lifeline for those in need.

Brother Kantaraju has also been felicitated by the primary health centre at Doddalahalli for his selfless service with the ambulance recently.

Dr Gajanan, Administrative Head of Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam, spoke about the profound impact of this service, highlighting the countless lives touched and saved through Brother Kantaraju’s unwavering commitment.

This was followed by a heartfelt speech by brother Kantaraju, who expressed his gratitude for being entrusted with this noble responsibility. He shared his deep sense of fulfillment in serving as the driver, attributing his ability to contribute to the blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The evening continued on a sweet note with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking the start of the much-anticipated Prema Manjari – Gnyana Dayini Day celebrations.

The programme was compered by the Gnyana Dayini teachers, who brought all the children together with their loving words and guidance.

The first event of the day was the Fancy Dress Parade. Children showcased their creativity and reverence by dressing up as iconic figures, including Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Swami Vivekananda, Mother Easwaramma, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Sri Thyagaraja Swami, and Sri Kanakadasa.

Adding a divine touch, some children represented deities residing at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, such as Sri Vaatsalyaambika Devi, Sri Guru Guha Swami, and Sri Nataraja. The young participants spoke passionately about the life messages and glory of these figures, leaving the audience both inspired and moved.

The event featured engaging games like Musical Chairs and a Cup Pyramid challenge, much to the enjoyment of the children. For the youngest attendees, the Balloon Blast game brought laughter and excitement as they competed to pop balloons by sitting on them.

Lavanya, a Grade 7 student part of Vidya Maadhuryam, delivered a heartfelt speech about her transformative journey since joining the tuition classes. She highlighted the invaluable opportunities, divine blessings, and support that have shaped her academically and personally.

Keerthana, a Grade 11 student part of  Nritya Maadhuryam, shared her inspiring story of how her dream of learning dance came true. She spoke about overcoming challenges and staying rooted in her passion for dance, attributing her success to the grace of God.

Priyanka, a Grade 6 student part of  Sangeeta Maadhuryam, shared how the music classes are fulfilling her dream of becoming a singer. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her teachers and to God, highlighting how the engaging and inspiring sessions have fuelled her passion for music and encouraged her personal growth.

This was followed by a lively debate on the topic, ‘Mobile Phones: Boon or Bane,’ saw children enthusiastically presenting their arguments. The preparation, teamwork, and unity displayed by both groups were commendable, showcasing their growing critical thinking skills.

A quiz covering topics such as Science, Mythology, the Ashram, and General Knowledge tested the children’s intellect and teamwork, making it both educational and enjoyable.

Adding humour and excitement, the teachers participated in an unconventional Q&A game, where the answers had to be completely unrelated to the questions. This lighthearted activity brought smiles and laughter, and the children especially enjoyed seeing their teachers think on their feet.

The highlight of the evening was the eagerly-awaited Student of the Year award, presented to Lavanya N, a dedicated Grade 7 student. Lavanya was recognised for her excellence in academics, music, and dance, as well as her discipline, enthusiasm, and devotion during classes and activities at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam.

The evening ended with a Kannada group song presentation by all the children. The moving rendition of the song “Kannige Kaanuva Deveru Endare Ammanu Thaane,” brought the audience to tears and showcased the deep emotional connection and gratitude the children feel.

The evening concluded with the distribution of gifts to all students in recognition of their participation and efforts, filling their hearts with joy and gratitude.

The ‘Prema Manjari’ Children’s Day celebrations left the children, teachers, and devotees feeling purposeful and grateful. The event was a beautiful reminder of the love, learning, and divine blessings that continue to guide and nurture everyone involved.

More than anything, it was a powerful reminder of the transformative power of unity, love, and dedication—and what truly matters in life. It inspired both children and teachers to continue their journeys of growth and self-improvement, bringing positive change to themselves and the world.

It was truly a one-of-a-kind New Year celebration to cherish.
