Bhajans, Hindustani and Carnatic classical music, Bharatanatyam, and instrumental recitals carried devotees through the night, drawing together elders, villagers, children, and seekers in a shared experience of unity and devotion. The sacred observance culminated at dawn, leaving hearts suffused with peace, grace, and inner stillness.
Morning Observances: Rudra Homa and Maha Rudra Abhishekam
The sacred observances of Maha Shivaratri commenced in the early hours with the solemn chanting of Vedic hymns, followed by the Rudra Homam and Maha Rudra Abhishekam offered to Sri Sarvaantaraatmeshwara Swami. The Abhishekam began with the sacred offering of Vibhuthi, followed by Panchamrutha Abhishekam, each ritual unfolding with deep reverence and spiritual intensity. The sanctified atmosphere vibrated with devotion as powerful mantras resonated through the air, drawing all present into a shared prayer for universal welfare and harmony.
The Alankaram that followed was a vision of divine splendour. Sri Sarvaantaraatmeshwara was adorned in richly woven silks, intricate embellishments, and layers of fragrant garlands, each detail thoughtfully arranged in aesthetic harmony. The resplendent adornment transformed the sanctum into a celestial spectacle—a feast for the eyes—leaving devotees awestruck in silent admiration. The morning observances concluded with Mangala Aarti, completing the sacred cycle of worship.

The Akhanda Bhajans sustained a serene yet powerful spiritual momentum, enveloping the space in collective prayer and devotion.
Kashi Damaru: Hindustani Classical Percussion Ensemble
A special highlight of the evening was the thematic percussion ensemble “Kashi Damaru,” envisioned by Sri Jagadish Kurthkoti and presented by a team of eleven renowned artists—Sri Jagadish Kurthkoti, Vid. Sri Anoor Vinod Shyam, Sri Ganesh Desai, Sri Ramesh Kulkarni, Sri Gopi Shravan, Sri Manish Tamboskar, Dr. Gajanan Sabhahit, Sri Suryakiran, Sri Sanketh, and Master Samarpan.
Interspersed with chants from the Vedam and devotional ragas such as Revathi and Miyan Malhar, the presentation wove together intricate rhythm and energetic expression. An array of percussion instruments was accompanied by the melody of the flute, energetic konnakol, and mellifluous vocals, creating an immersive experience that echoed the cosmic rhythm of Lord Shiva’s damaru. The devotional atmosphere deepened with a graceful Bharatanatyam presentation by the Acharyas of Nritya Maadhuryam, Kumari Aparna Krishnan and Kumari Sathvika Krishnan. The choreography included compositions such as Hari Hara Stuti, Mayil Vahana, Arpuda Shilpi, and Ardhanari Stuti. Marked by synchrony, aesthetic elegance, and emotional depth, the recital stood as a heartfelt offering of movement and devotion.
Hindustani Classical Vocal Concert: Bhakti-filled Expression
The night rose to sublime musical heights with a Hindustani classical vocal concert by Dr. Gajanan Sabhahit. He rendered Raag Yaman, followed by the beautiful composition Adi Deva Mahadeva, along with other soulful compositions on Lord Shiva and Devi such as Namo Namo Durge Maharani, and Chandrachooda Shiva Shankara Parvathi in Darbari Kanada.
He was accompanied by Sri Samvatsara on the harmonium, Sri Dattatreya Joshi on the tabla, and Sri Abhilash Shet on the tanpura. The concert unfolded with meditative depth and devotion, drawing listeners inward into a contemplative musical space rich with bhakti.
Carnatic Vocal Concert: A Soulful Offering
The devotional fervour continued with a Carnatic vocal concert by the Phalgat sisters, Kumari Sowmya Sundar and Kumari Shweta Sundar. They were supported by Sri Prajwal Bharadwaj on the mridangam and Sri Krithik Kaushik on the violin.

At dawn, the Sadashivam Hall resonated with the chanting of 21 Omkaarams, followed by the Sri Sathya Sai Suprabhaatham.
