Celebrating the Spirit of Makara Sankranti at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam

Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam marked its second anniversary with a vibrant celebration that coincided with the auspicious festival of Makara Sankranti. The event showcased the Ashram’s remarkable journey of service and growth, highlighting its profound impact on the surrounding communities over the past two years.

The event included the unveiling of the Prema Dayini logo, representing the Sri Sathya Sai Premaarpitham Foundation’s focus on spreading love and compassion. The day also featured the launch of the Foundation’s Newsletter for January and a certificate distribution ceremony for the Gnyana Dayini students, acknowledging their efforts and progress.

The festivities culminated in a soul-stirring Carnatic music concert performed by the talented young artist, Kumari Sathvika Krishnan. Her melodious renditions added a divine dimension to the celebrations, perfectly complementing the spiritual atmosphere of Makara Sankranti.

The celebrations began with the launch of the Sri Sathya Sai Prema Dayini logo. The design symbolizes children’s holistic growth through proper nourishment, featuring children surrounding the Earth with Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba at the center, holding their hands. The logo’s central image depicts a child reaching out through a growing plant, illustrating how children flourish through proper nutrition, similar to a plant’s transformation into a tree.

This meaningful imagery represents the nurturing care (Vaatsalyam) provided under Bhagawan’s guidance, emphasizing how love and nourishment work together to help children develop into capable individuals who will contribute to India’s future.

The event also marked one year of Grama Seva activities, commemorated by the release of the January issue of Divya Praabhavam, the Sri Sathya Sai Premaarpitham Foundation’s newsletter. This edition documents the impact of Grama Seva through community stories and testimonials, highlighting the positive changes in village communities through the Foundation’s service activities.

Following this,  the spotlight turned to the children of Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini, who were recognised for their participation in ‘Prema Manjari’ – Children’s Day at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam. The children received certificates for their participation and achievements in various events and games, amidst applause and encouragement.

The event concluded with a Carnatic music concert by Kumari Sathvika Krishnan, accompanied by Sri Krishnan Ramabadran on the Mridangam and Sri Adithya Manikarnike on the violin. The performance featured compositions including ‘Sri Naathadi Guru Guho’, ‘Pankaja Lochana’, and ‘Muzhudaai Unarndavar Yaaro Sai’.

The performance was particularly meaningful for the Sangeeta Maadhuryam students in attendance, who shared their enthusiasm about pursuing further musical training.

As the celebrations ended, the audience reflected on two years at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, celebrating the power of love and service to create positive change.

The Bougainvillea, a flower that blooms vibrantly in harsh conditions, symbolised the day’s message: just as the Bougainvillea blooms vibrantly in challenging conditions, we must face life’s difficulties with grace and emerge stronger.

This anniversary was a testament to unity, love, and selfless service. As we continue, we look forward to more moments of inspiration, carrying forward this enduring legacy.
