Every Sunday, volunteers from the Sri Sathya Sai Premaarpitham Foundation visit remote villages around the Shivagiri Kshetra region for community service. Through initiatives like Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini, Sri Sathya Sai Prema Dayini, and Sri Sathya Sai Shubha Dayini, the Foundation provides holistic health care, nutrition, and livelihood support to villagers with selfless love.
One Sunday, a volunteer taking patients from Madiwala village to the Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam had to turn back due to coincidences. These were not mere coincidences, but SAI-incidences – his return led him to find a woman injured in an accident needing immediate care. By divine timing of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the volunteer was able to take her to the hospital just in time to save her life!
Regular Medical Camps Bring Doctors to Remote Areas
Through the Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini initiative, the Foundation organises free medical camps on Sundays in remote villages around the Shivagiri region. On camp days, doctors, medical staff, and volunteers drive through forest roads to reach villages with minimal healthcare access. The medical camp is set up systematically in each village. Patients are registered and seen by general physicians for consultations. Prescribed medications are provided free of charge along with guidance on proper use. For patients needing specialist care, follow-up visits are scheduled the next week at Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam hospital with gynecologists, ophthalmologists, dentists, pediatricians and other specialists.
Sai-incidence Leads Volunteer to Save Lives
One weekend after a medical camp in Madiwala village, a volunteer was driving patients to Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam hospital for specialist consultations. Upon reaching the hospital, he learned the doctors were running late. As the car had to return to pick up other volunteers from Madiwala, the volunteer left the patients in the care of the resident doctors and headed back.
On the winding road back to the village, the volunteer noticed a couple with a fallen bike on the roadside. Only after passing them did he realize in his rearview mirror that they seemed distressed. Following his inner voice, the volunteer turned around to find they had been in an accident – the woman passenger had fallen off the bike, hit her head, and was bleeding profusely. The couple had tried to get help but there was no phone reception or people around.
The volunteer immediately changed plans and took the couple to Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam. A passing villager helped move the injured woman carefully into the backseat. The journey to the hospital was difficult as she was in severe pain.
Just minutes before the couple arrived, the specialist doctors had returned to Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam. Recognizing the emergency, the resident and specialist doctors immediately moved the woman to the emergency ward and administered first aid for her wounds.
Accident Survivor Grateful for ‘God-Sent’ Volunteer
During diagnosis, the doctors learned the woman was pregnant. Hesitant about treatment since they were unfamiliar with the hospital, the couple was reassured that all patients are treated with utmost love and dedication. Relieved after treatment, the couple thanked the volunteer for arriving like God and saving not just one but two lives in their family that day. The couple received all necessary primary care before being transported in the Sri Sathya Sai Kshema Dayini ambulance to a multi-specialty hospital for further diagnosis.
Unexpected Delays Lead to Right Outcomes
The unexpected events of that day were a reminder of God’s mysterious ways. No one could have predicted a doctor’s delay would lead the volunteer to find and help the injured woman at precisely the right time. It demonstrated how we must be ever ready to serve selflessly. When we are, Bhagawan beautifully orchestrates the events that lie ahead.
