Festivity Blooms with Deepavali Celebration at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam

A joyous Deepavali was celebrated at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, marked by soulful bhajans, vibrant decorations, and the much-anticipated annual firecracker show by students from Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini. The celebrations also featured a certificate distribution for the recent ‘Annam Bramha’ cooking competition, making the day a memorable one for all.

The morning began with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, followed by devotional bhajans in the Sadashivam hall at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam. The programme concluded with Mangala Aarthi and Maha Prasadam, setting a pious tone for the day’s festivities

In the evening, winners were announced for the ‘Annam Bramha’ no-fire cooking competition organised by Vidya Maadhuryam, an initiative of Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini. This unique event saw over 50 children showcasing their culinary talents by creating dishes without using fire, all within various cuisine-based themes. The competition was a grand reminder of the significant connection between food and our physical as well as mental well being.

The first prize was awarded to team ‘Adi Lakshmi’ for their creative South Indian thali. Second place went to team ‘Dhairya Lakshmi’ for their cakes and ice creams, and third place was awarded to team ‘Vijaya Lakshmi’ for their delectable ladoos and pedas. The fourth prize saw a tie between Team Gaja Lakshmi, which made mouth-watering milkshakes, and Team Vidya Lakshmi, which prepared a variety of chaat items. Additional commendations went to Team Santana Lakshmi for their innovative bread-based dishes, with their dahi-bread, inspired by dahi vada, earning special appreciation. Team Dhanya Lakshmi also stood out with their healthy, sugar-free juices. Team Dhana Lakshmi, made healthy salads which tasted out of the ordinary. Each team received certificates in recognition of their creativity and hard work. The teachers of Vidya Maadhuryam were also felicitated for their dedicated efforts in organising the event.

The evening continued with an enchanting lights show. The children, guided by volunteers, lit the crackers and rockets with great enthusiasm, creating a dazzling display of colours. The audience watched in delight as each burst of light lit up the evening sky, symbolising the spirit of joy and togetherness.

Deepavali at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam was a reminder of the deeper message that the body is like sand, and the mind like water – when mixed and moulded, they create a diya, which when lit with wisdom and love, spreads brightness and warmth for all.
