Ten years ago, little Kushal (name changed on request) found himself caught in the clutches of adversity when his father unexpectedly abandoned them, leaving his mother, Varalakshmi, to shoulder the immense burden of raising four children alone.
Initially, Kushal’s grandfather provided a glimmer of hope, offering the support and guidance the family desperately needed. However, fate had another harsh twist in store – his grandfather’s passing left them adrift, grappling with challenges.
Varalakshmi, with no prior work experience and little savings, became the
family’s pillar. With calloused hands and an indomitable spirit, she toiled tirelessly to ensure her children’s well-being, sacrificing her own dreams to pave the way for theirs.
As Kushal entered the eighth grade, the financial strain threatened to extinguish his academic aspirations. Education, once a cherished pursuit, seemed like a luxury they could ill afford. With nowhere to turn and no one to help them, the family surrendered to God, hoping and praying that He would find a way to help Kushal through. And just when they thought all hope was lost, a beacon of light emerged – the Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini initiative.
The Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini’s scholarship initiative provides hope
Kushal received an all-inclusive scholarship for his education from the Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini! With the burden of educational expenses lifted, he could now focus solely on his studies, his mind unencumbered by the weight of his family’s struggles.
Fueled by an unyielding determination and the unwavering support of his mother and siblings, Kushal blossomed. His academic performance soared, earning him accolades and medals that adorned his journey like badges of honour. From volleyball to kabbadi, his prowess on the sports field knew no bounds, reflecting the resilience that coursed through his veins.
A new found determination to share the gift received
But Kushal’s triumph extended beyond the confines of the classroom and playing field. He had become a beacon of hope for his family, a living embodiment of the power of faith and perseverance. His achievements were not merely his own but a testament to the sacrifices of his mother.
“I want to study well and take care not only of my family but also more children like me who need support in their lives to grow and succeed” resolved Kushal.
As the family basked in the warmth of Kushal’s success, they couldn’t help but feel the presence of a guiding light – the blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Himself. For it was through His divine intervention that Kushal’s path had been illuminated, enabling him to soar above the adversities that once threatened to ground him.
“As a mother I feel so fortunate that Bhagawan stepped in as the divine mother and gave a future for my son and hope for us as a family. Our prayers were answered in the form of the scholarship my son received,” expressed Varalakshmi.
The story of Kushal and Varalakshmi stands as a vibrant testimony of resilience, determination, and unwavering faith that even in the darkest times, God will always stand by us. Their journey is also a poignant reminder that with the right support and an indomitable spirit, no obstacle is too great to overcome.
