New year celebrations at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam

With the love and blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the new year began with joy and renewed commitment for striving selflessly to love all and serve all at the Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam. All devotees gathered in the morning of 1st January 2024 at the Sada Shivam hall to commemorate the new year together. The programme included a speech by Dr Gajanan Sabhahit and a musical offering by the Geetha Sudha ensemble.

An inspiring speech paying gratitude to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The morning began with a divine abhishekam for Lord Somasundareshwara. Sister Srividhya Sivakumar, volunteer at the Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, introduced the new year’s programme. She spoke about how Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba through His life and teachings has taught the true meaning of the word love. Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba says, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, conceited, or proud. Love does not keep a record of wrongs. Love is truth. Love never gives up. It gives faith and hope. Love is eternal.” Quoting Bhagawan, she inspired everyone to carry His message of selfless unconditional love to all as we step into the new year.

Brother Dr Gajanan Sabhahit, an alumnus of Bhagawan’s educational institutions and a senior resident doctor at NIMHANS, delivered an inspiring speech to all gathered. By recounting a story of Sri Krishna and Rukmini, Dr Gajanan explained the true meaning of ‘Bhramhachari’ as one who follows the divine  and ‘Uppavasi’ as one who is near to god. His message inspired all to start the new year with a resolve to to become near and dear to God, becoming His messengers of selfless love.

A heartfelt musical offering by the Geetha Sudha ensemble

The programme concluded with a divine musical offering by the Geetha Sudha ensemble. The sisters began the programme with the beautiful song Madhura Mohana Ghana Shyama, a Telugu song which extols the beauty of Sathya Sai Baba’s love and the purpose of our lives as His children. The next song O Nesthama left everyone in bliss as the song expressed everyone’s love for Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba as a friend. The third was a mellifluous flute rendition by Dr Gajanan on the song Baro Krishnayya.
