The Thread of Change: Shubha Dayini’s Third Chapter Begins

Rooted in the timeless wisdom of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba — that when women are empowered, their families and communities flourish — the Sri Sathya Sai Shubha Dayini programme continues to grow, one batch at a time.

Recently, the third batch of this transformative women’s skill development initiative commenced at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, welcoming women from the villages of Chikkaalahalli and Neharadoddi into a space of learning, creativity, and possibility.

Shubha Dayini — Empowerment Through Skill

Sri Sathya Sai Shubha Dayini is a powerful initiative dedicated to empowering rural women through skill development. Offered completely free of cost, the programme equips women with practical and creative skills, enabling them to generate additional income and strengthen their role within their families and communities.

Women trained under Shubha Dayini learn to create a wide range of products, including eco-friendly paper convertibles, jewellery and jute products, tailoring and much more.

A Meaningful First Day

The day began on an auspicious note, as the women participated in the Ganesha Sankatahara Chaturthi puja as they entered, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the journey ahead. From prayer to practice, the transition into the Shubha Dayini workshop space carried with it a sense of joy and anticipation.

“As we came today, we got to participate in the Ganesha Sankatahara Chaturthi puja, which was a special beginning. Then, after coming to the workshop space, I got immensely happy seeing that my wish of learning these handicrafts is starting to come true. I am eagerly excited for what is to come.”
— Savita, Beneficiary

First Steps with Needle and Thread

Thirteen women from the villages of Chikkaalahalli and Neharadoddi gathered in the Shubha Dayini workshop shed for their very first lesson—learning the basics of embroidery. The Shubha Dayini trainers introduced them to running stitch, patiently guiding each participant through the fundamentals.

For many, this marked their first structured step into learning a craft that could one day become a source of income and independence.

“I got to know what all they are teaching here and immediately decided to enrol. I know only a little bit of tailoring, so I am waiting to learn all there is to learn here in the upcoming months.”
— Nandini, Beneficiary

For the trainers too, the beginning of a new batch brought in renewed enthusiasm and responsibility.

“As a trainer, I am very happy to see the excited faces here. This is the 3rd batch starting of Shubha Dayini, and I am also very eager to teach. With the grace of Bhagawan, I pray that more and more women get benefitted through the programme.”
— Kalpana Heblekar, Trainer

Continuing a Growing Journey

This new batch adds to the growing journey of Shubha Dayini. With two successful batches already completed, women from Uyyamballi and nearby villages have been trained in creative and practical skills, helping them become more independent and better prepared to shape brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Each new batch carries forward the same timeless vision — that when women are empowered with opportunity, skill, and support, they become a powerful force for transformation within their homes and communities.

Through Shubha Dayini, this vision continues to unfold — one skill, one woman, and one empowered future at a time.
