Weaving Dreams: Shubha Dayini Participants Discover New Horizons at Dakshin Bharat Utsav

The rural women of the Sri Sathya Sai Shubha Dayini initiative recently took part in the Dakshin Bharat Utsav 2024, an event celebrating the rich cultural heritage and economic potential of Southern India. Hosted by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) in collaboration with the Karnataka Government’s Tourism Department, this cultural exposition proved to be a transformative experience for all participants.

The event featured diverse stalls and exhibits, providing the Shubha Dayini women with valuable opportunities for direct engagement. This interaction not only enhanced their skills but also fostered their entrepreneurial spirit. Through their participation, the women gained exposure to a wider market and cultural landscape, furthering their personal and professional growth.

The Sri Sathya Sai Shubha Dayini initiative empowers rural women near Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam through focused skill-building programs. Participants receive training in practical skills such as jewellery-making, paper bag crafting, and tailoring, enabling them to enhance their capabilities and establish additional income sources. Running for seven months, this initiative has attracted enthusiastic participation from over 65 women across eight villages.

The Dakshin Bharat Utsav drew women from the villages of Chunchi Colony, Cheelandawadi, Uyyamballi, Bommasandra, and Madiwala near Kanakapura. During the event, these women had the opportunity to interact directly with a diverse array of stalls and exhibits, learning essential communication skills and customer engagement techniques.

Participants explored a variety of stalls selling handicrafts, condiments, soaps, electrical appliances, and more. Through interactions with sellers, they gained insights into effective stall display, sales techniques, and communication strategies. This exposure proved particularly impactful for the Sri Sathya Sai Shubha Dayini women, providing them with invaluable practical knowledge and hands-on experience, inspiring them to discover new ways to apply their skills and crafts towards entrepreneurial ventures. This real-world experience complemented their training, offering a broader perspective on market dynamics and customer preferences.

Following their tour of the stalls, the Shubha Dayini women had the opportunity to meet with the President and Vice President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI). The organisers of the Dakshin Bharat Utsav were notably impressed by the participants’ enthusiasm and dedication.

One organiser expressed their admiration, stating, “I feel proud to be amongst such women who have decided to take a step in their lives to better their skills and livelihood.”

This interaction with high-level officials and the positive reception from the organisers further boosted their confidence,  reinforcing the value of their pursuit of personal and professional growth.

The Dakshin Bharat Utsav 2024 provided a transformative platform for the Shubha Dayini women, equipping them with insights and opportunities that will shape their journey towards entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

This experience aligns perfectly with the Shubha Dayini initiative’s core objective of fostering economic independence and personal development among rural women. As these participants carry their newfound knowledge back to their villages, they become ambassadors of change, inspiring others in their communities to pursue similar paths of growth and empowerment.
