Rooted in Grace, Rising in Service: Guru Poornima 2025 at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam

Guru Poornima is a sacred occasion that invites the earnest seeker to reflect on the role of the Guru, not merely as a teacher, but as the dispeller of darkness and the revealer of truth. At Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, the 2025 celebration held deep significance, as the Foundation marked five years of value-rooted service in rural India.

The morning programme began in serene stillness, with devotees, volunteers, and villagers gathering under the gentle Vedic chants. The air was filled with reverence and gratitude as hearts turned toward the Divine Master, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, whose omnipresence guides every facet of the Foundation’s journey.

The festivities began with the inauguration of the Sarva Dharma panel, which brings together the religions of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and Zoroastrianism.  These are not merely physical installations — they are living reminders of the truth Bhagawan has always taught: There is only one religion — the religion of Love.

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima, the Sri Sathya Sai Premaarpitham Foundation launched Vaatsalya Dhaara, a compassionate outreach programme dedicated to the health and dignity of women, from the womb to the wisdom of age.

Spearheaded by Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam, this initiative will see dedicated medical teams reaching remote tribal and rural areas, offering screening, treatment, education, referrals, and most importantly, continuity of care.

At the centre of the morning’s reflection was a moving address by Sri Krishnan Ramabadran, Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Premaarpitham Foundation. With simplicity and depth, he traced the Foundation’s evolution—from its first tentative steps into service to the wide-reaching impact of its initiatives in nutrition, healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment.

He spoke not only of metrics but of meaning. Of how service becomes sanctified when done in His name. Of how faith, not infrastructure, was the Foundation’s first and most enduring resource. “This is not our doing,” Sri Krishnan said. “It is His sankalpa, unfolding through us.”

A special highlight of the morning was the formal release of the Annual Report 2024–25, titled “Grounded in Values, Measured by Impact.” The report offers a transparent and thoughtful overview of the Foundation’s initiatives over the past year, capturing both reach and depth. Through stories, reflections, and voices from the field, the annual report captures the spirit of ‘love in action’, echoing Bhagawan’s message: “The best way to love God is to love all and serve all.”

Alongside the report, the Foundation also released the 5th Anniversary Edition of its quarterly newsletter, Divya Praabhavam. This special Guru Poornima edition traces the inspiring five-year journey of the Foundation—from its humble beginnings during the pandemic to becoming a vibrant force of rural transformation. You can read it online or pick up your copy at the Vaatsalyam campus.

The morning concluded with a heartfelt musical offering by the Geetha Sudha team, whose devotional renditions filled the prayer hall with love, longing, and surrender. The notes rose not from performance, but from pure devotion – it was a collective expression of gratitude for five years of walking in His love and light.

The morning proceedings ended with the offering of Aarthi to Bhagawan.

As dusk descended on the Vaatsalyam campus, the tone of the celebration turned contemplative. The evening session opened with a deeply personal and evocative talk by sister Sai Kripa, a second-generation Sai devotee and active volunteer. Her journey, shaped in the gentle yet powerful fold of Bhagawan’s grace, was one of surrender, resilience, and silent transformation.

“In Bhagawan’s hands,” she shared, “nothing is wasted. Not our struggles, not our missteps. He uses them all—to chisel us, to lift us, and to bring us closer to Him.” Her words resonated deeply with the young and old alike, offering a lived testament to the Guru’s eternal grace.

The evening culminated in a mesmerising Hindustani classical music offering by Vidhushee Vasudha Sharma, a renowned vocalist whose bhakti-laden performance created a space of deep stillness and reflection. She was accompanied on the tabla by Sri Gururaj Adukal and Dr Gajanan Sabhahit on the harmonium.

Every raga and every note seemed to carry a prayer—an offering to the Divine.

Guru Poornima at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam has always been more than a celebration; it is a sacred pause. A moment to look back in gratitude, and to look ahead with resolve.

As the Foundation steps into its sixth year, the commitment to love in action continues, anchored in Bhagawan’s teachings, inspired by His life, and nurtured by His grace.

This journey, like all sacred journeys, is not measured merely in milestones, but in the transformation of places, of people, and of hearts. With each passing year, we understand more deeply: to live is to love and serve. And in doing so, we honour our God and Guru not just on this day, but every day.
