The New Year evening at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam was joyfully observed as Prema Manjari Day, bringing together students, Acharyas, and parents of the Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini initiative for an enriching and celebratory gathering. The programme was vibrant and heartwarming, featuring student speeches, a graceful dance presentation, an insightful debate, bhajans, quizzes and games, followed by prize distribution for the Science and Art exhibition and the Best Student Award. The evening unfolded as a celebration of learning, values, and transformation.
Gnyana Dayini: Learning Beyond Classrooms
The Gnyana Dayini initiative signifies knowledge beyond academics and skills beyond classrooms. Through its Maadhuryams — Vidya, Nritya, and Sangeeta — the programme nurtures the holistic growth of children from villages around Vaatsalyam, seamlessly integrating learning, culture, values, and character development.
The evening began with a cake cutting and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, setting a warm and joyful tone for the celebrations. The proceedings were led by sister Shylaja, coordinator, Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini, and sister Mamatha, A, Archarya, Vidya Maadhuryam.
Voices of Gratitude: Speeches by Students
Students Manvitaha of Sangeeta Maadhuryam, Manish of Vidya Maadhuryam, and Sanvika and Manju Bai from the EHV classes of Bendegoudu village shared their journeys in Gnyana Dayini. Speaking with sincerity and confidence, they expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and their Acharyas. Their reflections stood as a testimony to the nurturing environment of the classes, highlighting growth in learning, confidence, discipline, and values — all guided by Bhagawan’s love and teachings.
Programme Offerings by the Maadhuryams
Adding grace to the celebration, the children of Nritya Maadhuryam presented Nama Ramayanam, a beautiful dance recital that took the audience through the epic story of Lord Rama. The introduction was given by Keerthana, a student of Nritya Maadhuryam, who explained the stages of the Ramayana, enriched the experience. The expressive movements and devotional depth of the performance made it both a visual treat and a heartfelt offering.
This was followed by a meaningful debate by Vidya Maadhuryam students on the topic of Gender Equality and Inequality. The teams comprising Kishen, Lavanya, Priyanka, Gautham, Rishith, Varsha, and Pooja shared thoughtful observations drawn from real-life experiences across different spaces in society. Their points reflected awareness, sensitivity, and critical thinking, encouraging the audience to reflect on equality, respect, and social responsibility. The students highlighted how opportunities for women are improving in the current times, yet several gaps remain — from societal stereotypes where professional chefs are often perceived as men while cooking at home is expected of women, to the continued practice of child marriage and the persistence of female infanticide in certain parts of India. The debate concluded with a note about the evolving framework for women’s rights, emphasising the need for these laws to be upheld with responsibility and not misused.
Thereafter, students of Sangeeta Maadhuryam rendered soulful bhajans, drawing everyone together in rhythm and devotion. The hall resonated with claps, smiles, and collective joy as the children sang with enthusiasm and faith.

Learning Through Joy: Quiz, Games, and Exhibitions
A quiz was conducted for all the children, with enthusiastic participation from everyone. The activity brought out their scientific knowledge, creativity, humour, and out-of-the-box thinking, filling the hall with laughter and excitement.
Adding a delightful touch to the evening, a game of dumb charades based on bhajans was organised for the Acharyas. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching their Acharyas participate, creating moments of shared laughter and bonding.
The Science and Art Exhibition organised by Vidya Maadhuryam showcased projects prepared by different student teams. All participants were awarded certificates in appreciation of their efforts and learning.
