When devotion blossoms into celebration, every ritual becomes an expression of love for the Divine Mother. At Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam, more than 150 women from the surrounding villages came together in devotion to worship Jagat Janani, Goddess Mahalakshmi, seeking Her grace and offering their prayers with love and reverence.
The sacred observance unfolded through a beautiful sequence of Abhishekam, Alankaram, Pallaki Utsavam, collective prayers, Naivedyam, and Aarathi. Each ritual brought the women together in a shared spirit of devotion and gratitude, creating a celebration that was as much about community as it was about worship.
Abhishekam: An Offering of Love
The sacred observance began with the Abhishekam of Jagat Janani, performed amidst the resonant chanting of Sri Suktam, Purusha Suktam, and Rudram. Sacred waters were offered to the Divine Mother, along with flowers, turmeric, sandalwood, and other traditional offerings, each carrying the devotion and prayers of those gathered.
The ritual unfolded in an atmosphere of stillness and devotion, drawing everyone present into the sacred experience.

The Divine Mother Adorned
Following the Abhishekam, Jagat Janani was beautifully adorned in rich silk, intricate jewels, and flowers. The transformation from the sacred Abhishekam to the resplendent Alankaram brought joy and splendour to the celebration.
Devotional chants and bhajans accompanied the Alankaram, creating a gentle, prayerful atmosphere.
Pallaki Utsavam: A Celebration of Collective Devotion
Following the Alankaram, Jagat Janani was taken in a beautiful Pallaki Utsavam. The ceremonial Kalasham, symbolising the Divine Mother, was carried with reverence as the women accompanied the procession with fruits, sweets, flowers, and other offerings.
Sri Lakshmi Ashtottaram was chanted as the women participating in the worship offered Akshatai from their plates bearing the image of the Goddess.
After this, traditional Naivedyam was lovingly offered at the Lotus Feet of Jagat Janani.
The worship culminated in Maha Mangala Aarathi offered to the Divine Mother. The gathering joined together in prayer, bringing the sacred observance to its beautiful culmination.
Raksha: A Bond of Love and Togetherness
The tying of Raksha threads among the women added a beautiful dimension to the celebration. More than a ritual, the Raksha became a symbol of mutual care, protection, togetherness, and the recognition of the Divine presence in one another.
As the women tied the sacred threads, the celebration reflected the spirit of a family bound together by love—where devotion extends beyond individual prayer into care and responsibility for one another.
A Prayerful Close
The celebrations concluded with Mangala Aarathi to Bhagawan, leaving the gathering with hearts filled with gratitude, devotion, and joy.
The Varamahalakshmi Vratam offered a gentle reminder that the grace of the Divine Mother is something to be reflected in the way we live. To invoke Maha Lakshmi is to strive to cultivate within ourselves the qualities of Vaatsalyam, compassion, abundance, generosity, and love.
