On the sacred occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, a melodious new beginning unfolded at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam. Under the aegis of Sangeeta Maadhuryam, the Sri Sathya Sai Gnyana Dayini initiative marked the launch of flute classes for children from Uyyamballi and the surrounding villages, in collaboration with Sanjog Bansuri Mahavidyalaya, founded by renowned flute maestro Pandit Dr Pravin Godkhindi.
An Evening Steeped in Melody
The evening began with a soulful flute recital by Pandit Dr Pravin Godkhindi and Sri Shadaj Godkhindi, accompanied on the tabla by Sri Kiran Godkhindi. Through the evocative strains of Raag Marwa, the bright and uplifting Hamsadhwani, and the devotional Payoji Maine Ram bhajan, the concert gently drew the gathered villagers, devotees, and children into a space of stillness and joy. The recital created an atmosphere of quiet absorption, where melody became a shared experience of divine bliss.
Marking the Beginning of a Journey
Following the recital, newly crafted flutes were distributed to the students — a simple yet deeply meaningful gesture that symbolised the beginning of each child’s musical journey. The students then gathered at the front, offering their heartfelt gratitude to their gurus.
Pandit Dr Pravin Godkhindi formally inaugurated the classes, guiding the students into the world of the flute while emphasising not only its technical foundations, but also the discipline, sensitivity, and sanctity that this sacred art embodies.
In a moment of gratitude, Guruprasad Hegde, the flute maker, was felicitated for his dedicated efforts in crafting the instruments.
An Auspicious Close
The programme concluded with Mangala Aarti to Bhagawan, followed by Prasadam, bringing the evening to a serene and prayerful close.
Aligned with the spirit of Akshaya Tritiya — a day that signifies abundance, continuity, and auspicious beginnings — this initiative carries the promise of something enduring. With Bhagawan’s grace, these young learners now step into a space where music becomes not just a skill, but a companion in inner refinement — their journey unfolding, note by note, towards harmony, confidence, and quiet self-discovery.
